Coming soon in AO

What we're building next in AO, so you can plan ahead.

What we're building next in Absolute Ocean (AO), so you can plan ahead. Plans change, so nothing here is a commitment to a feature or a date: the release notes confirm what has shipped. To talk about any of these for your organization, contact support@terradepth.com.

AI in AO

  • Ask AO: an assistant inside AO. Ask in plain language, for example "my newest files near Norfolk", and it answers with links to your projects, files and visualizations, and can show them on your map. It sees only what you can see. It will be turned on per organization: contact support@terradepth.com.
  • Use AO from your own AI tools: connect AI assistants that support the Model Context Protocol (MCP), such as Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini Enterprise, to AO with your AO sign-in. You choose read only or read and change, and the assistant works with your projects, files and visualizations within your permissions. Disconnect it at any time from My Account.
  • Search everything: one search box finds your projects, visualizations, files, objects and layers, not just places, and can pass your question to Ask AO.
  • API tokens: in My Account, create read-only or read-and-write tokens for your own scripts and integrations, instead of signing in with a password.

On our roadmap

  • Bring your data in: point AO at a folder, approve the project it proposes, and see your data on the map.
  • Survey to deliverable: quality-check data at sea on AO OnBoard and deliver it through AO, without moving it between tools.
  • What changed: compare two surveys of the same area and export the differences. Today you can compare them by eye with the Swipe Tool and profiles, or bring in a difference grid made in your own tools: see Run your own analysis on AO data.
  • Take it with you: move a project to a disconnected or secure system and back.
  • Ocean conditions: temperature, salinity and currents alongside your survey data. Public ocean maps of these already work today as external layers: see Live ocean layers.
  • Faster, lighter visualization: AO's own tiling engine, for faster processing and less storage wherever AO runs, including AO OnBoard and ARM-based hardware.
  • More AO OnBoard options: more hardware configurations for AO OnBoard, including a ruggedized edge unit, with installation and workflow guides.

Further out

  • AI that finds things in your data: automated sonar processing, target recognition, and flagging changes between surveys for you. Until then, you can run your own models on AO data and bring the results back as layers or objects: see Run your own analysis on AO data.
  • Plan the next collection: AO recommends where to collect next, and you approve it.
