Best practices for loading data to AO
Large uploads/ downloads
- Please use AO's upload and download tool for uploading or downloading large amounts of data. The tool is very easy to use and you do not need to be logged into AO to use it, it runs behind the scenes. Please contact support@terradepth.com for access to the tool.
Folders
- Folder names are case sensitive, Raw Data is not the same as raw data
Files
- File names are case sensitive
- One file cannot be more than ~10 GBs, if you need to upload a very large file, compress the file as needed and unzip when it’s uploaded.
- AO can unzip a file, but only if you upload one file
Add/ delete/ edit
- When you upload data, you add to what is already there
- If you need to delete data, you need to do it from within AO
Upload
- In general, don’t zip data prior to uploading, if the connection drops and the zip isn’t finished, you have to redo the entire upload
- Exceptions: you plan to store them in AO as zips or if you have one large file > 10 GIGS that you need to upload
- Do upload folders and files in the folders
- If your connection drops while uploading files in a folder structure, the files that have been uploaded already will stay in AO, just re-start the upload of the entire directory
- AO will ignore the files that are already there assuming it’s the identical file in the same directory
- If you do upload a zip, please note that the upload shows it’s 100% complete, but the unzip can still take up to 2 hours to complete after that, don’t cancel but wait for the unzip to finish
