Layers window

Turn layers on and off, change how they look, and share what's on the map.

The Layers window controls what's shown on the map: AO's global layers, such as base terrain and imagery, and the visualizations and external layers from your projects. Open it with Layers at the bottom of the left toolbar.

Global Layers

Global Layers are always there. Expand them to choose:

  • Objects: show or hide every object on the map. See Objects.
  • Projects: which project dots to show: Public, Private or All.
  • Base Terrain: 2D (flat, faster) or 3D (elevation and bathymetry).
  • Contour Lines: show or hide contour lines on the 3D terrain.
  • Base Imagery: the background layers, such as Aerial, Aerial+Labels, Roads+Labels and NOAA Charts, plus any external layers added for everyone on your AO. Each has its own eye icon and transparency slider.

Your layers

When you view a visualization or add an external layer, it appears in the Layers window under its type: Imagery, Grid, Legacy Grid, Point Cloud, Vector or External Layers. External layers your organization has added for all its projects appear under External Layers, labeled Organization. Choose the project name to open the project the layer comes from. Depending on the type of layer, you can:

  • Show layer / Hide layer with its eye icon.
  • Zoom to layer.
  • Change which imagery draws on top: choose the lock icon at the top of the Imagery list to unlock it, then Move layer up or Move layer down (you need at least two imagery layers).
  • Copy shared-layer definition to use the layer in GIS tools and other viewers. Shared-layer addresses work without signing in, so share them only with people who should see the data; to withdraw one, contact support@terradepth.com.
  • Remove layer from the map. This doesn't delete the visualization.
  • Play animation for an animated external layer. To change an external layer's transparency, edit it in its project's Layers tab.

Share the view

Copy share link at the top of the Layers window copies a link to the current view, with its layers and what's visible. A colleague who signs in to AO and has access to those projects sees the same view.
