Independent Grids

Absolute Ocean currently leverages the 3D GEBCO model of the Earth to display grid elevation values in 3D: when a grid is visualized, that portion of the model is replaced with the new grid data.

We have a new beta feature, Independent Grids, which adds the grid instead as an independent object to AO, just like point clouds. To turn on this functionality, while in the main interface press hot key 0 and a banner will appear confirming Independent Grids are available. Now, in the workflow to visualize your grid choose the new third option "Bathymetric Model" instead of "Bathymetric Grid".

While an Independent Grid is visible on the map, hotkey '1' will cut out base terrain in the area your model is displayed

When you create a profile line across an Independent Grid, hotkey "b" will hide the base terrain from the profile.
